We’re pretty hard core hikers. After a long day of hiking, sometimes we just want to take a nice hot shower and then dive into a big comfy bed! That’s what we did on our latest trip to Moab, Utah.
Just 17 miles away from Arches National Park is Castle Valley, Utah, where we chose to stay at the award-winning Sorrel River Ranch Resort. It was SPECTACULAR! Inches away from the Colorado River, this beautiful oasis has tons to offer. We didn’t even have time to see everything.
The first thing we noticed were the gorgeous views of the red rocks and the Colorado River.
As we entered the main building, we were impressed with the elegant wood design.
What a classy place! They describe their style as “old-west chic”. Perfect description. When they gave us a map of the resort, we couldn’t believe how big it was and how many activities were available.
Our room as was in a separate building, and almost looked like a classy log cabin — porch swing included. It felt like the wild west, yet luxurious.
As we explored the grounds, we saw the gorgeous outdoor pool, and our favorite — the outdoor petting zoo. We saw the adorable farm animals and enjoyed petting the horses.
If only we’d had more time, we would have like to swim, check out the spa, ride the horses, and try out the restaurant.
We were close enough to some red rocks called “The Convent” and “The Priest and the Nuns” that we captured beautiful photos at sunset.
At 8:00 pm Sorrel River Ranch lights a small bonfire, and we enjoyed sitting and talking around the fire. Once we got back to our room, we enjoyed nice hot showers and an excellent nights sleep.
The next morning, we headed back to Arches National Park to capture some sunrise shots!
