Cedar City, UT: The Iron Gate Inn

0

When hiking through southern Utah, Cedar City is the perfect hub. This area, (known for it’s world-famous Utah Shakespeare Festival), has such close proximity to so many of our hiking trails, it’s easily one of our favorite destinations. On our recent trip through Cedar City, we stayed at The Iron Gate Inn, a quaint bed and breakfast right in the heart of town.

The owners, Donna and Brian, were incredibly warm and friendly. They take pride and joy in their Victorian home, which has a rich history, dating back to 1897. Iron Gate Inn is “Cedar City’s #1 Bed & Breakfast with unmatched hospitality, and have been noted as ”The Best Breakfast in Town!”’ The owners have friendly pets to greet you, so this is the perfect place for animal-lovers to stay.

The front parlor and living room are both elegantly decorated, and many features are original to the 1897 home.

We stayed in the Ruby G room, just off of the dining area. We awoke to the delicious smell of Donna’s breakfast!

Donna cooks ‘nutritionally conscious’ food, which can be enjoyed in the large dining room or on the garden patio.

The patio is surrounded by a lovely, lush garden. After the sun went down, we gathered around the gas-lit fire pit for some excellent conversation. There’s also a jacuzzi to relax in after a long day of hiking.

Following a great night’s sleep, we enjoyed breakfast with the other guests, then headed to Red Cliffs Recreation Area to hike the Red Reef Trail. If you’re looking for lodging on your way to Red Cliffs, Zion National Park, St. George, or Kanarraville, and you love a good B&B, consider staying at The Iron Gate Inn in Cedar City.
